Jerry Schrock reads 9/11 Poem to his students

Students and family members reflect on the events that happened 13 years ago on September, 11th.  The phrase "never forget" is being talked about around Mason City Schools and families.  Every 9/11 Jerry Schrock reads to his students the poem that he created the days after 9/11. Wendy Faulkner was lost on 9/11 and is in our thoughts and prayers. 

Mason and Guatemalan School Creates Book Exchange

Mason Intermediate student, Nina Di Loreto, took a trip to Guatemala last summer with more than just clothes. Nina Di Loreto brought lots of books with her to Guatemala for young students. When the books were received at the school “Colegio Metropolitano” they were beyond thankful and sent back books in Spanish to Mason in return. Hundreds of books in Spanish are now in Mason Intermediate’s library.

2 MHS Students Named National Achievement Semi-Finalists

September 23, 2014—The National Achievement Scholarship Program is a scholarship program for African American students based on the PSAT. They are eligible for a $2,500 scholarship, less than one percent of students taking the qualifying test earn the highest commendations. The test is taken early in the beginning of their junior year in high school
Veronica Woodson, a senior, is a leader at MHS and a nationally recognized accomplished equestrian.
“Hard work and persistence transferred over into her school work successful,” Woodson said.

MHS Journalism Students Win J-Day Awards


Mason High School journalism students recently found themselves making the news, rather than reporting it!  During Ball State University's annual Journalism Day on April 25, MHS students, taught by Dale Conner, were recognized for their work this year. The trip was sponsored by a grant from the Mason Schools Foundation.
